Music

The music ministry of St. Francis of Assisi parish seeks to encourage the people´s "full, conscious and active participation" in the liturgical life of the church, especially as it pertains to music. We work to help create an environment in which we recognize the presence of Christ in all gathered, in the proclamation of the Word, and in the Eucharist. Music aids in the spiritual life of the faithful, through sung prayer, as well as fostering a spirit of reverence. As we experience God´s presence through prayer and sacrament, we are transformed, and in turn reach out with Christ´s transforming power to our world. As a people baptized in Christ Jesus, we are called to live out this baptismal call through ministry. The music ministry of St. Francis of Assisi invites all members of the parish to bring their musical gifts to the faith community. Opportunities include:
  • Choirs which lead assembly singing at both Sunday liturgies, and Holy Days
  • Cantors who proclaim the psalm, and lead in other acclamations
  • Instrumental Ensembles which add dimension to the musical texture
Our ministry not only seeks to nurture the life of the parish, but reaches out to our community as well. We offer concerts several times annually. Their purpose is to further foster the spiritual life of all who attend, and they are always free and open to the public. We also visit our neighbors at Westminster Thurber and Heartland-Victorian Village every year on the Feast of the Holy Family to sing Christmas Carols.

We also aid in special celebrations for parish life:
  • Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi and the Feast Day Celebration
  • Feast of St. Anthony of Padua
  • Parish Weddings
  • Parish Funerals
  • Devotional Services (Stations of the Cross)
  • Liturgy of the Hours
We invite you to join this vibrant and exciting part of our parish life! For more information, contact Phil Adams, Director of Music Ministry.
