There are many areas of service at St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Parishioner involvement in our church community is one of the things that makes St. Francis of Assisi such a wonderful place to worship.

Choir/Music Ministry
Participation in parish choir/music ministry provides a variety of opportunities to lead the community in prayer.

Crucifers
Responsible for bearing the crucifix during processional and recessional at Sunday masses and other liturgical celebrations.

Early Childhood Religious Education
Serving children ages 3 through 6.  Using Montessori-based methods, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program helps children grow closer to God through prayer and activities.

Eucharistic Ministers
Assist in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at all liturgies.

Finance Council
Members advise the Pastor about parish finances.  The committee also helps create a budget for the parish, and analyzes financial statements.

Funeral Ministry
Represent the parish at funeral home wake services (and possibly conduct the service if the Pastor is unavailable); serve as Greeters and Ushers at the funeral Mass; serve as Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors at the Funeral Mass; and represent the parish in attending grave-site services.

Greeters
Welcome all those who attend liturgical services and other parish programs.  Greeters distribute worship aids along with the weekly bulletin for adults and children.  They take up the Sunday Mass collection, select gift bearers for the Presentation of the Gifts, and organize the offertory procession.

Lectors
Proclaim the Word at mass and all other parish celebrations as needed.

Maintenance and Gardens
Involves the daily general cleaning and upkeep of the church grounds, buildings and facilities; set-up and tear-down for special events and seasonal activities; landscaping; painting; snow removal; carpentry; plumbing; also helps with large-scale capital improvements.

Ministers of Care
Ministers of Care (who are fully-commissioned Eucharistic Ministers) visit patients at Doctors Hospital, Westminster-Thurber and Heartland nursing home, as well as  parishioners confined to their homes.  These ministers take Holy Communion to them  and serve as listeners, consolers, and encouragers.  They represent our community as the welcoming parish that we are, to all that are unable to attend Mass.

Pastoral Council
This body of parish leaders is responsible for advising the Pastor on all aspects of parish life and ministry. As Christ's disciples, they build consensus by engaging in a process of prayer, discussion, and discernment regarding our mission as a Catholic parish. They are currently developing a useful pastoral plan for the future.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Those seeking a deeper relationship with Christ through membership in the Roman Catholic Church are guided through the RCIA process.  Inquiry and study of Catholic tradition and doctrine lead to full participation through the Sacraments of Initiation and reflection on the depth of God's love revealed in the Paschal Mystery.  The new Catholic joins the Body of Christ in a life-long journey of conversion and discipleship.

Altar Servers
The time-honored ministry of Mass Server needs no description ... boys and girls age 10 and older are eligible to serve at mass.  We also encourage adult men and women to serve in this ministry.

St. Vincent de Paul
An organization that provides material assistance to the poor. 
"Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads men and women to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering.  Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of charity and justice."
